(VEN) - The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has struggled to remove difficulties with local producers, especially in terms of production sites, with a view to boosting the capital’s industrial development in the coming time.
Small and medium-sized enterprises, including production bases at craft villages in Hanoi, have developed strongly since the capital’s expansion, making clear the significant demand for production sites. Recognizing this, the capital has focused on the development of industrial clusters.
The department has coordinated with local districts and communes to review the capital’s industrial zone and cluster development plan until 2020, with a vision towards 2030 in an effort to better identify sites for industrial zone and cluster and trade infrastructure construction across the capital.
Currently, Hanoi has 43 industrial clusters under stable operation, including 15 with concentrated waste water treatment systems meeting national standards and 21 which cover 294ha set aside for craft production facilities to be moved from residential quarters. Of these, 27 industrial clusters under construction which cover 305.5ha across the capital will also be reserved for craft production facilities.
The department has taken solutions to remove administrative difficulties with industrial cluster investment and expansion faced by craft producers in Dan Phuong, Lien Chung and Lien Ha villages in Dan Phuong District and Dai Tu Village in Kim Chung Commune.
This year, the department will precipitate infrastructure construction and expansion of Dan Phuong, Phu Tuc and Dai Thang industrial clusters, call for investment in local industrial clusters and continue to develop industrial clusters across the capital as approved.
The capital’s industrial zone and cluster development plan until 2020, with a vision towards 2030 has so far been basically completed for approval. Six industrial clusters which were established before the industrial clusters management regulations have been asked to complete necessary procedures while 25 dossiers for industrial cluster establishment are complete. Hanoi has established the Tan Hoa Industrial Cluster in Quoc Oai District and is considering for approval another industrial cluster in Dong Anh District. Concentrated waste water systems in seven industrial clusters are scheduled to enter operation this year
Hanoi achieved high industrial production value in the first quarter of this year and saw an 8.6 percent increase in industrial production index over the same quarter of last year. Several industries which recorded high production values grew rapidly including food and foodstuff production and processing up by 21 percent, beverages up by 11 percent, garment and textile up by 39.7 percent, pharmaceuticals up by 34.3 percent, and metals up by 25 percent.
