(VEN) - Hanoi is promoting e-commerce development in order to expand product consumption and boost export growth.
In recent years, Hanoi has seen major changes in e-commerce application. The capital city currently has 10,564 active e-commerce websites and applications, including more than 360 e-commerce trading floors.
Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Deputy Director Tran Thi Phuong Lan said Hanoi operates the “Hanoi Shopping Map” at http://bandomuasam.hanoi.gov.vn, providing online search solutions for shopping, consumer and culinary activities. In addition, promoting the application of information technology in e-commerce activities has gradually brought online shopping to become a popular purchase form for people, especially for young consumers. The capital city has also supported online trading solutions for small- and medium-sized enterprises and trade villages, and helped export businesses improve capacity to participate in prestigious domestic and foreign e-commerce trading floors.
Hanoi has developed the e-commerce market for safe agricultural products at www.chonhaminh.gov.vn and www.myhomemarket.gov.vn. E-commerce market goods are guaranteed from safe production chains and certified production models such as VietGAP and HCCP. To date, several thousand members have registered to participate in the safe agricultural product e-market.
Promoting further development
The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has cooperated with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency to inform businesses of a cooperation plan between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and Amazon Global Selling, as well as a conference on high-tech investment and trade promotion that took place in January 2019. These activities were designed to help businesses export domestic products, get access to high-tech and participate in global value chains.
The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has also coordinated with the State Bank of Vietnam branch in Hanoi to strongly develop card payments using card readers at points of sale (POS) and promote the application of quick response (QR) codes, encouraging consumers to shift to non-cash payments.
The Hanoi Sales Promotion Month 2019 in November was a good opportunity for both domestic and foreign businesses to offer attractive promotions and access customers. The organizing committee of the program encouraged businesses to promote online sales in order to stimulate consumption.
To draw customers, supermarkets, trade centers and e-commerce websites introduced their discounts and preferential programs on the “Golden Promotion Day”.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has assigned the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Vietnam e-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (IDEA) to hold “Online Friday” events, aiming to promote the development of e-commerce in the city.
At the “4.0 Consumer Festival” in early November, visitors had the chance to enjoy and experience smart shopping with many incentives from large businesses and brands, such as Samsung, Vinamilk, Garco 10, FPTshop, and ViettelStore. The festival also drew the participation of leading delivery companies, such as VNPost, Viettel Post, Lalamove, and Snailship, as well as 20 commercial banks to support consumers in their shopping activities.
To promote e-commerce development, supermarkets and trade centers have been active in applying technologies to increase consumer interaction and experience.
