(VEN) - Domestic and foreign businesses alike welcomed the first Vietnam International Food Industry Exhibition 2015 (Vietnam Foodexpo 2015).
According to the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Foodexpo 2015 was a trade promotion event for specialized agricultural products, seafood and food industry. The exhibition took place from May 13-16, 2015 at the Saigon Exhibition Center, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City as part of the 2015 National Trade Promotion Program.
The event partially introduced about the Vietnamese food industry’s dynamic development as well as strengths, brands, products and services in the industry while promoting domestic and foreign market development through connecting wholesale and retail distribution systems, importers and potential investors. The exhibition was also expected to promote technological innovation and increase productivity, quality and safety in farm produce and drink production and trading activities.
The debut event attracted more than 300 enterprises from 36 provinces and cities in Vietnam and representatives from 19 countries and territories, including India, Belgium, Cambodia, Cuba, Chinese Taipei, the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea (RoK). The exhibition welcomed an estimated 30,000 visitors. A series of potential traders and buyers from domestic localities and from abroad such as the RoK, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Japan, Nigeria, Paraguay, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and China visited and secured deals at the exhibition.
A wide range of industries and perse range of sectors were showcased at the event, including farm produce, raw seafood and processed seafood; processed food and beverages, machinery and equipment; technology for food processing, food preserving and packaging technologies; and food safety and hygiene technology.
The Nation of Honor Booth Area was the highlight of the exhibition and served as a gathering point for enterprises from the RoK featuring food products, nutritional products and health foods. Lam Dong Province’s booth which highlighted the city of Dalat’s products focused on its natural, fresh and healthy products.
The exhibition also hosted the second International Conference of the Vietnam Food Industry; the Saigon International Cooking Contest; trade seminars of Vietnamese and foreign enterprises; a contract signing ceremony; and culinary demonstrations.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the event significantly contributed to the Vietnamese food industry’s development and international integration.
The deputy prime minister also believed that the exhibition was an efficient way for Vietnam’s food industry to promote their prestige and brands, introduce products and services to domestic and international customers, contributing to the development of the domestic market and exports, and facilitating business and investment cooperation.
