Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has asked the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai to create a favourable and equal environment for businesses and investors.

The Government official made the request at a working session with provincial leaders on June 9.
He ordered the local authorities to step up economic structuring in the key fields of agriculture, industry and services in order to make use of the locality’s available resources.
He praised the efforts made by the provincial Party committee and authorities in coping with the prolonged drought since early this year and for ensuring the lives of locals.
In regards to arising shortcomings in the operation of the An Khe – Ka Nak hydroelectricity power plant, he assigned the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, and local authorities to address the problem in the spirit of balancing the interests between businesses and local people while protecting the environment.
Over the first five months of this year, Gia Lai has faced a number of difficulties due to drought, which have caused a total loss of VND 837 billion (US$ 37.5 million). Severe lack of water has also seriously affected over 9,000 households in the province./.
