Generali appoints new Regional Officer for Asia

(VEN) - The Generali Group (“Generali”) has announced the appointment of Mr. Jack Howell as its new Regional Officer for Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Howell will be reporting directly to Generali Group CEO, Mr. Mario Greco.

Mr. Howell will be responsible for Generali Asia’s insurance operations in both Life and Property & Casualty businesses. He will drive Generali’s growth plans in Asia covering 10 markets.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Mario Greco, Group CEO of Generali, said, “With Jack’s rich industry knowledge and successful track record in managing insurance businesses in Asia, I am confident that he will accelerate Generali’s growth ambitions in Asia.”

Mr. Howell brings to Generali over 20 years of extensive industry experience and international perspective, having worked in various markets across Asia and the United States. Prior to joining Generali, he was with Prudential plc where he held CEO positions in Vietnam and Indonesia and was responsible for driving business growth, devising and managing multiple distribution channels and closing key strategic partnerships.

Before Prudential, Mr. Howell was with AIG where he served as the President and CEO of Philam Plans, and held several key executive positions in New York and Hong Kong. He was also the co-founder of TwentyTen LLC, a NASD/SIPC-licensed investment bank consultancy.

Mr. Howell is a graduate of the Tufts University in Quantitative Economics, and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business.

In Asia, Generali operates in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore, with total premiums approaching €1 billion in 2014.
