Gas company union introduces plans to motivate employees

(VEN) - The trade union of Vung Tau Gas Processing Company (KVT) that operates in the southern port city of Vung Tau recently held a preliminary conference to review its activities for the 2017-2022 mid-term period with the participation of 50 delegates.

Employee care

The union’s Executive Committee reported to the delegates on the implementation of the plans and targets set out in the Resolution of the fourth-tenure Trade Union Congress. Accordingly, the committee worked closely with company leaders to improve working conditions and the working environment, care for workers’ health as well as their material and spiritual lives; create conditions for them to improve professional and foreign language skills; organized cultural, sports and exchange activities to strengthen workplace solidarity and cooperation.

The trade union also coordinated with the youth union and the Veterans Association to organize motivational activity designed to exceed production results compared with annual business plans, ensure occupational health and safety, practice thrift and avoid waste.

In the 2017-2019 period, 78 company initiatives were put into practice, earning an estimated value of more than VND119 billion. KVT’s 5S and STOP programs were successfully implemented, raising employee awareness and responsibility for safety at PV Gas units. During the period, the company saved VND70.87 billion through a number of action programs.

Employees also contributed to charitable social funds launched by the trade unions of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, the PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV Gas) and KVT, especially in localities where its projects and headquarters are located. The total donations since 2017 has amounted to about VND1 billion.

The company’s trade union also participated in regular meetings between departments and the director in order to discuss employee concerns and expectations, receive constructive suggestions and promptly resolve problems. The salary and bonus regime of PV Gas can ensure a stable source of income for employees.

Sticking to production and business plans

In the 2020-2022 period, PV Gas will task KVT with several major projects and the KVT trade union will set aside most activity to focus on the company’s annual production and business tasks, which are always its top priority.

It will also inform employees of the company’s mechanisms and policies, development orientation, opportunities and challenges, encourage their sense of responsibility and active proposals for operating and managing units. The trade union will also promote initiatives, help build KVT corporate culture, create a friendly and pleasant working environment and consolidate the good relationship between itself and the company’s directors for the common developing goals.

The trade union will further improve the quality and efficiency of operations; diversify cultural and sports activities to create a useful recreation for employees, and continue to promote the spirit of mutual solidarity in social activities.
