The Swiss movie “Vitus” (Child Prodigy) was screened at the French Cultural Centre L’Espace in Hanoi on March 24, signalling the beginning of the 2015 Francophone Film Festival in the capital.
The annual event is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and French speaking organisations with a view to promoting the cultural persity of the Francophone community.
This year, the programme boasts nine national and international award-winning feature and documentary films from France , Switzerland , Bulgaria , Tunisia , Belgium , Morocco , Haiti and Vietnam , which will be screened with French and Vietnamese subtitles.
Three Vietnamese movies introduced at the event are “Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung” (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere) by director Nguyen Hoang Diep, “Chuyen Di Cuoi Cung Cua Chi Phung” (Madam Phung’s Last Journey) by Nguyen Thi Tham, and “Nhung Dua Con Cua Lang” (Children of the Village) by Nguyen Duc Viet.
The film festival is taking place in Hanoi and Vinh city (central Nghe An province) from March 24-31; central Thua Thien-Hue province from March 21-31; and Ho Chi Minh City from March 23 to April 2.
