Ford Vietnam sales jump 87 percent in May

June 9 2015, Ford Vietnam announced an all-time record sales month in May with overallretail sales surging 87 percent year-over-year to 1,747 units.

Ford’s year-to-date sales have now risen 71 percent from a year ago to 7,335 units, as it continues to be one of the fastest growing automotive brands in Vietnam this year. Its year-to-date market share has now risen to 8.6 percent, up from 8.0 percent during the same period last year.

“Our momentum is being boosted by each new-to-Ford customer, who become our brand ambassadors and help spread the word about the segment-leading smart technologies, fuel efficiency, safety and quality of our global Ford vehicles” said Jesus Metelo Arias, Managing Director, Ford Vietnam.

The segment-defining Ford Ranger led the May performance, delivering an all-time record monthwith retail sales soaring 166 percent year-over-year to 818 units.

Not only did Ranger continue to lead the pickup truck segment in May - capturing more than half of all sales in the segment – it was the second-best selling vehicle overall in the country for the month.

The Transit - which led Vietnam’s bus and van segment in 2014 - maintained its segment leadership with May retail sales rising 43 percent year-over-year to 451 units. Year-to-date Transit sales have increased 40 percent to 1,962 units.

The EcoSport compact SUV maintained its momentum in May with retail sales of 289 units, driving its year-to-date total sales up to 1,446 units.

The popular Everest mid-sized SUV also contributed to the record monthly performance with sales of 107 units in May. Total sales of the Everest during the first five-months have reached 666 units.
