Ford Vietnam delivers record first half, sales surge 52 percent

(VEN) - Ford Vietnam announced a record first half performance with overall retail sales increasing 52 percent year-over-year to 13,616 units - as Ford continues to be one of the fastest growing auto brands in the country this year.

Ford’s also delivered its best-ever June performance with retail sales jumping 47 percent to 2,369 units, driven by all-time record monthly Ranger sales and strong demand across its full lineup of global Ford vehicles.

 “Our momentum in the first half is being driven by the growing appeal of our full lineup of global Ford vehicles in Vietnam,” said Pham Van Dung, managing director, Ford Vietnam.

The segment-defining Ranger contributed to the record first-half with sales increasing 102 percent to 6,868 units, and remains on track to be Vietnam’s best-selling pickup truck for the second consecutive year. The Ranger’s record monthly sales in June soared 128 percent from a year ago to 1,429 units.

The EcoSport compact urban SUV maintained leadership of its segment in June with retail sales rising 18 percent to 308 units. This helped boost its first half sales 30 percent to 2,220 units, as the EcoSport continues to define a whole new vehicle segment in Vietnam.

The Ford Focus, featuring Ford’s 1.5L EcoBoost engine, contributed sales of 100 units in June that drove its first half sales up 66 percent to 459 units. 

Ford continued the ongoing expansion of its dealer network in the first half of the year, with the opening of Ford Thanh Hoa and Ford Nha Trang. Ford now has 31 authorized dealerships in key locations across the country.
