First tonne of coal exported on first day of Lunar New Year

The first tonne of coal on the first day of the Lunar New Year 2020 was loaded onto Viet Thuan Sky ship at Cam Pha Port, Quang Ninh Province on January 25.

Under the contract, Viet Thuan Sky received 42,500 tonnes of coal at Cam Pha Port to supply to Vinh Tan 1 Power Company Limited for domestic consumption.

From the beginning of 2020 until now, the port has served hundreds of ships, barges and water means to enter and receive coal, with the total coal consumption through the port from the beginning of 2020 having already reached over three million tonnes.

General Director Dang Thanh Hai of the National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) said that in 2020, the SOE strives to successfully complete its set out targets, among them is the production of raw coal reaching 40.5 million tonnes and coal consumption 49 million tonnes, respectively.

The group has set a target to achieve revenue of VND138 trillion, with a profit of VND3.5 trillion.

* Earlier, on the evening of January 24, Saigon Newport Corporation in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony and issued an order to start the first working day of the Lunar New Year.

Transport Minister Nguyen Van The, leaders from Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities and Navy officials joined local workers at the event.

The first container for the Lunar New Year at the port was the export shipment of Saigon Food, transported on WANHAI 231 vessel with a tonnage of 21,052 tonnes, from Tan Cang - Cat Lai Port to Port Kelang in Malaysia, in addition to goods from more than 139 enterprises of Ho Chi Minh City, mainly agricultural products and garments, to be sent to ports in Hong Kong (China), Japan and Taiwan (China).
