(VEN) - Thanks to the application of modern technologies, the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) has reduced the duration of power outages, improving the reliability of the power system, better serving trade and production activities, and enhancing people’s living conditions.
Luan Quoc Hung, head of the Technical Department under the EVN HCMC, said the system average interruption duration index (SAIDI) reached 80.68 minutes, while the system average interruption frequency index (SAIFI) reached 1.12 times. Some power companies have recorded a big reduction in SAIDI and SAIFI, such as the Gia Dinh Power Company and Go Vap Power Company.
Power output in the first seven months of the year reached 14.2 billion kWh, an increase of 5.83 percent compared to a year ago. The highest daily output reached 81.13 million kWh, a year-on-year increase of 5.93 percent.
EVN HCMC Deputy General Director Nguyen Van Thanh said the corporation has successfully implemented many technical solutions and applied advanced technologies. For example, the corporation has put into use 1,111 automatic switching devices, SCADA system and DAS/DMS. In addition, the corporation’s live-line construction workforce has been developed into 10 teams. Live-line power repair is one of the keys to improving the indicators of power supply reliability in the area. EVN HCMC is strengthening the training of the live-line repair workforce, with the goal of bringing an additional six live-line teams into operation by the end of 2018 to meet the requirements of 16 affiliated power companies.
EVN HCMC has also accelerated the replacement of mechanical electricity meters by electronic ones with distance metering functions (smart meters). Electronic meters can measure and transfer the dada to the power company, replacing staff that collected electricity data. In addition, units have provided protective measures for high-risk areas, and cooperated with fire departments to strengthen public information on safe power use in residential areas.
The corporation has strengthened inspection and review of equipment to implement maintenance and replacement, as well as coordinated with local authorities to check and handle violations.
EVN HCMC has implemented 19 solar power projects at its headquarter and subsidiaries, and conducted energy-
saving projects under the ESCO model.
