(VEN) - In addition to producing and distributing electricity, the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) is focusing on ensuring progress in its power projects.

EVN focuses on key power projects

Efforts to provide electricity

The EVN recorded a total power production of 121.1 billion kWh in the first nine months of 2015, an increase of 13 percent over the same period last year, including 106.75 billion kWh of commercial power, up 12 percent. As of September, the EVN had put five of seven power generator units into operation with a total capacity of 2654MW at Mong Duong 1 Thermopower Plant, Duyen Hai 1 Thermopower Plant, and O Mon 1 Thermopower Plant, Huoi Quang Hydropower Plant and Lai Chau  Hydropower Plant.

The EVN also coordinated with the coal sector to ensure coal supplies to domestic thermopower plants despite Quang Ninh suffering heavy storms and asked Vinh Tan 2 and Duyen Hai 1 thermopower plants to focus on supplying power to the south during the dry season of 2015 and the gas cut-off period.

Promoting key power projects

All urgent power projects serving the south including Vinh Tan 2, Duyen Hai 1, Thai Binh, Song Bung 2, Trung Son, Bac Ai, O Mon 3 and 4 have maintained scheduled construction.

As for power grid, the EVN put 142 power line constructions into operation and 113 power lines under construction in the first nine months of 2015 including many important power supplying lines to Hanoi such as 220kV Van Tri – Chem and Chem – Tay Ho power lines and 220kV Tay Ho substation.

Several power grid constructions are behind the schedule due to site clearance issues including 220kV power lines at the Cau Bong 500kV power transformer and 220kV Phan Thiet - Phu My 2 and Tan Dinh - Uyen Hung power lines at Vung Tau 200kV power transformer.

The EVN has promoted power supply projects for islands as directed by the government. It has completed the power supply project for the administrative center of Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province and for the island commune of Thanh An, Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the EVN has conducted power supply projects for the island commune of Lai Son, Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province and for households without electricity in Son La Province, along with completing the procedures for starting power supply projects for the island commune of Hon Nghe, Kien Luong District, Kien Giang Province, Cu Lao Cham Islands, the island commune of Tan Hiep, Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, Bach Long Vi Island District,  Hai Phong City and the little island of Ly Son in Quang Ngai Province.

To ensure the construction pace of power supply projects, the EVN has asked related power supply project management units to focus on the implementation of the Lai Chau, Huoi Quang and Da Nhim hydropower projects and the Vinh Tan 4 thermopower project during the remainder of 2015.
