(VEN) - The Ministry of Planning and Investment and the European Chamber of Commerce (Eurocham) recently organized an Improving the Business Environment in Vietnam seminar.

Eurocham Chairman Preben Hjortlund told the seminar that with a good geographical position Vietnam was one of attractive investment destinations regionally and globally.

However, Eurocham’s experts also spoke about shortcomings which have reduced Vietnam’s attractiveness such as the undeveloped seaport system, difficulties for exports and imports from the foreign direct investment (FDI) sector, FDI limited ownership of several banking segments and incomplete laws on price management.

Eurocham proposed that Vietnam further improve the business environment by overcoming shortcomings for the seaport system, increasing room for foreign investors in the banking sector, and specifying price management regulations and the Law on Price.

In response, the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Development Strategy Institute Director Associate Professor Dr. Bui Tat Thang said that they would consider the proposal and submit the government their schemes to improve the business environment for foreign investors in Vietnam including Eurocham’s businesses./.
