Living proof for the Paracel

(VEN) - There was an old saying “Paracel Islands is located in the vast sea; the Hoang Sa flotilla went without return and these soldiers are honored every February.” For over four centuries, the old saying has been known by heart for generations of people living on Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai Province, reminding them of a harrowing epic historical period when the sons of the island passed a thousand miles to the Paracel Islands to fish and mark the demarcation of sovereignty to protect the national waters. Today, evidence of that great historical stage is still seen in the wind tombs, Am Linh Pagoda, the Hoang Sa flotilla souvenir house, and especially the Hoang Sa flotilla Festival held as monsoon winds signal the start of sailing season.
