The project will be jointly realized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The project includes three main components: a policy framework and regulations to support an industrial boiler standardization system; raising awareness and capacity building for State agencies, users, boiler suppliers/producers and other stakeholders; and financing and implementing the use and production of energy-efficient boilers in Vietnam.
The overall objective of the project is to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by promoting the use and operation of industrial energy-efficient boilers, thereby improving Vietnamese enterprises’ competitiveness by reducing energy consumption cost and minimizing negative impacts on the environment.
Main beneficiaries from the initiative are boiler makers and industrial producers in the paper and pulp, textile, food processing, chemical and rubber processing industries.
Speaking at the signing, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong revealed that the project has shown the efforts of the MoIT and the technical assistance from UNIDO to finalize regulations and guidelines on a standardized system on industrial boilers, as well as improving human resources and finance support for production and efficient use of industrial boilers in Viet Nam./.
