Developing sustainable agriculture
The Phu Quy Agricultural Farm Joint Stock Company was launched in 2013 to help farmers experiencing rock-bottom prices of the Vinh oranges they grew and to find markets for their produce. With the brand named Vinh Ky Yen oranges, company director Nguyen Thi Le Na aims to provide fresh and safe agricultural products and build a sustainable consumption market for oranges and their processed products. Nguyen Thi Le Na is also determined to promote sustainable development associated with corporate social responsibility.
In addition to growing and selling oranges, the company produces dried orange peels, orange essential oil and marmalade, with no preservatives, no colorants, no synthetic flavors, no stabilizers and no genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Vinh Ky Yen orange was originally grown in 2015 in accordance with VietGAP standards on a total area of 10ha. However, most area has been converted to ecological farming since 2016. Na has worked with domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to receive support in organizing garden tours and participating in international fairs and exhibitions.
Nguyen Van Dung, chairman of the Minh Hop People’s Committee, said that as a pioneer in local agricultural investment, Na has achieved success, contributing to transforming the traditional tree-growing model and helping farmers escape poverty.
Branding agricultural products
Thanks to social networking services, Vinh Ky Yen oranges have been distributed nationwide, with 20 sales agents in major cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
The Ecovi Ecological Agriculture Joint Stock Company is developing garden tourism services. This is also the pilot farm for the first eco-tourism model in Nghe An Province managed by FarmLab, FarmShop and FarmTour systems. The startup is also cooperating with a cooperative in Hoa Binh Province’s Cao Phong District to develop the brand name of Ecovi Ha Phong for oranges and grapefruits.
In addition to a sales channel through Facebook, the startup has brought its products to e-commerce platforms, such as Shopee and Tiki. In 2022, it will develop an ecological farming process for grapefruits and dragon fruit in Vinh Phuc Province.
Ecovi hopes that ecological agriculture will be formed and developed strongly in the coming time, increasing the added value of Vietnam’s agricultural products.
