(VEN) - New Covid-19 infections have been detected at a number of industrial zones and businesses in northern provinces and the central coastal city of Da Nang, prompting measures to control its spread and maintain production activities under safe condition. The directions were discussed at an online meeting in May between the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s steering committee for Covid-19 pandemic control and representatives of people’s committees, departments of industry and trade, and market management authorities of centrally-governed provinces and cities. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An told participants that Vietnam has almost 400 industrial parks (IZs), 30 border-gate economic zones (EZs), and 700 industrial zones for small to medium sized businesses, where production must be maintained to prevent disruptions to the economy.
E-commerce, a Covid lifeline for merchants

(VEN) - As Covid-19 kept consumers around the world at home, nearly everything from groceries to gardening supplies was purchased online. According to Mastercard’s latest Recovery Insights report, this amounted to an additional US$900 billion being spent in retail online around the world in 2020. Put another way, in 2020, e-commerce made up roughly US$1 out of every US$5 spent on retail, up from about US$1 out of every US$7 spent in 2019.

MoIT cuts export growth target to 4-5 percent

Two-month exports surge 27.1 percent

(VEN) - Vietnam’s import-export turnover reached US$97.5 billion in the first two months of the year, an increase of 26.7 percent compared to a year ago, with exports surging 27.1 percent to US$50 billion. During the week of February 10-16, import-export turnover reached US$1.67 billion, a year-on-year increase of 53 percent.
