Cua Lo launches 2015 Tourist Year

(VEN - Themed ‘Cua Lo Tourism: Safety and Prestige’, the Cua Lo Tourism Year 2015 in the coastal town of Cua Lo in Nghe An Province is expected to have many activities to please tourists.

Cua Lo launches  2015 Tourist Year

Chairman of Cua Lo Town People’s Committee Doan Tien Dung said the town will open the Cua Lo Tourism Festival 2015 on April 30 with a special art performance program named ‘A new face of Cua Lo”. The program will have many new and special activities including the Vi Giam folk songs which will help tourists better understand the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This event is also aimed to celebrate big festivals of the country and Cua Lo’s recognition as a marine tourism urban area.

On this occasion, especially in April and May, there will be a lot of art, cultural exchange and sport activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the country reunification and the 125th birthday of Uncle Ho such as the Vi Giam folk song contest, a beach volleyball tournament and a dragon boat race on May 1.

In June and July, the town People’s Committee will hold a football tournament, a tennis competition and a beach golf competition. After that, in the remaining months of this year, there will be a photo exhibition and art performance gala to celebrate the National Day on September 2.

Located along the Vinh-Nam Dan-Cua Lo tourist route with favorable road, air and water traffic and a gateway to the East Sea through Cua Lo and Cua Hoi seaports, the Cua Lo coastal town has a great potential for tourist services and seafood exploitation and processing. Apart from enjoying local special dishes, tourists coming to Cua Lo can participate in sport activities and visit night markets selling seafood or the Nghi Thiet shipbuilding village and Nghi Hai seafood processing village by electric cars, pedicabs or bicycles.

Thanks to its attractiveness, Cua Lo has become a favorite tourist destination, especially in the summer. In 2014 alone, Cua Lo attracted 2.3 million visitors, up 6.1 percent from 2013, including 1.4 million visitors staying overnight and 5,500 foreigners, earning revenue of VND1.73 trillion. Cua Lo was recognized as a coastal tourist urban area by the prime minister in 2014.

To serve tourists, the locality has organized various tours which link with other tourism spots in Nghe An Province such as Cua Lo-Nam Dan; Cua Lo–Lam River–Cui Temple; Cua Lo–Vinh City-Kim Lien Village–Pu Mat Primitive Forest tours, a cruise to Lan Chau Island, Tortoise Cave and Fairy Island, and Cua Lo–Ngu Island-Lam River and some outbound tours like Cua Lo–Cau Treo Border Crossing-Lac Sao (Laos).

To attract more resources for economic development, Cua Lo has launched its 2015 tourist year themed ‘Cua Lo Tourism: Safety and Prestige’. In 2015, the town strives to welcome 2.430 million tourists and earn VND2.076 trillion in tourism revenue, up 20 percent from 2014. To meet tourists’ demand, Cua Lo will add 500 more rooms to offer accommodation to 19,000 guests per night. With a good preparation to improve its prestige, the Cua Lo tourism season this year is expected to bring great pleasure to tourists.
