Consumption of manufacturing and processing sector sees growth

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the consumption of the processing and manufacturing sector continued to grow relatively compared to the same period of 2016.

The consumption index of the processing and manufacturing industry rose 9.5% year-on-year, higher than the growth of 8.1% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2016.

A number of industries have seen a good consumption growth rate. They include:

- Metal production increased by 22.2%;

- Motor vehicles (up 13.9%;

- Leather production and related products (up 17.4%);

- Textile (up 14.8%);

- Paper products (up 13.8%);

- Electric appliance products (up 6.3%);

- and beverage production (5.3%).

As of August 1, the inventory index in manufacturing and processing sector soared 9.8% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the inventory index of some industries decreased over the same period such as tobacco production, which decreased by 26.1%; leather production and related products (down 23.3%) and pharmaco-chemical industry (down 16.4%).
