According to officials, the plant has a budget of US$130 million and planned capacity of 48MW. It will have 24 turbines, which will span over 1,200 hectares of land and water surface in the Truong Long Hoa and Dan Thanh communes of the Duyen Hai district.

It is expected to be completed and placed into operation in February 2017, generating electrical output of over 173,000 MWh per year.

Tran Anh Dung, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee said Tra Vinh has a great potential for developing wind power projects, which will help create clean energy sources, reduce carbon emission and environmental pollution as well as generate electricity for the national grid.

The project will also ensure energy security and help generate jobs for local labourers and contribute VND30-40 billion per year to the local and state budget./.
