(VEN) - Bosch Vietnam and Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) jointly kick start the ‘Greenovator Hackathon 2021’ with the theme “technologies for a Blue Sky”. The competition encourages Vietnam’s youth and engineering students to design innovative solutions addressing three main areas: improve outdoor air quality status; manage traffic flow effectively to reduce congestions; and reduce vehicle’s emission resulting to cleaner air.

Participants will undergo three main phases of the competition, including: prelimination round, centralized solution development (hacking) and final presentation. Participants can submit either as individuals or teams (maximum 3 people) from August 17th, 2021 to September 15th, 2021, strictly following the guidelines stated on the competition’s website. Thereafter, top ten teams will be short-listed to enter the next round, where they will undergo a technology bootcamp with industry experts from both Bosch and QTSC on October 14th and 15th, 2021.

At the bootcamp, all ten teams will be provided with the knowledge critical for further development of their initial ideas, including: air quality data collected by Bosch Immission Monitoring Box (IMB) and information regarding the traffic sitation in Quang Trung Software Park area, recorded by Bosch’s AI-powered intelligent CCTV system. Participants will also be trained in design thinking and viable business model amongst others.

The competition will end with a 48-hour hackathon on October 29th and 30th, where the teams will deploy and present their finest work for the coveted title. Top three teams will receive cash prizes of VND50 million, VND30 million, and VND15 million accordingly. They will also have the opportunity to join Bosch – one of Vietnam’s leading technical enterprises – as interns.

“The Greenovator Hackathon tackles real and current challenges in order to increase public awareness and encourage sustainable innovations for a greener and better Vietnam. It is a privilege for Bosch to actively involve the local youth to contribute to the mission of improving quality of life,” said Guru Mallikarjuna, Managing Director of Bosch Vietnam. “Year after year, we have witnessed incredible ideas and talent from passionate young Vietnamese innovators for the hackathons; hence I am looking forward to this year’s submissions and help scale their ideas to market”.

Leveraging on modern technologies, the Greenovator Hackathon will empower young generation in developing innovative ideas to improve the quality of air in Vietnam. It is also part of a strategic plan between Bosch Vietnam and QTSC. Within the framework of the competition, both parties have agreed to provide the finalists with data and technical toolkit for the deployment of inclusive and real-life data, including: the Bosch Immission Monitoring Box (IMB), and the smart camera system – the new Bosch AUTODOME inteox 7000i cameras.
