(VEN) - Consulate General of India in HCMC just commemorated the 69th Independence Day of India on August 15, 2015 at the Consulate (55 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Dist 3, Ho Chi Minh City).

Prize distribution to the winners of the painting contest for children at the Consulate General of India in HCMC

Over 200 members of the Indian community and friends of India were present on this occasion. The program included the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by speech of the President of India read out by Consul General Smita Pant, cultural performances and prize distribution to the winners of the painting contest for children (8-14) organized by the Consulate to commemorate India-Vietnam friendship on 14th August.

During her speech, the Consul General informed that an exhibition on “India’s support to Vietnam during the War” and “President Ho Chi Minh & India connection” would be organized at the War Remnants Museum on August 28, 2015 at HUFO. She also informed about Strategic Partnership between India-Vietnam and cooperation extending in all sectors including defence, information technology, waste-water treatment. She congratulated Sumit Nagal & Ly Hoang Nam on winning the Junior Doubles Championship at Wimbledon, which showcased that the collaboration between Vietnam and India has extended to sport.  She also added that more events to highlight India-Vietnam relations will be held.
