(VEN) - In the first nine months of 2013, the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No. 4 (Cienco4) almost fulfilled its yearly production and business plan with the total value of projects implemented by the corporation reaching nearly VND8.74 billion, equal to 97 percent of the yearly plan and 156 percent of that in the same period last year.

The corporation completed a number of projects, including high-value projects such as Ben Thuy-Ha Tinh section of National Highway 1A (VND675 billion), Bid Package 5 of the Noi Bai-Nhat Tan Project (VND455 billion), Bid Package 9 of the Long Thanh-Dau Giay Project (VND477 billion), Bid Package 6 of the Phu Bai Airport project (VND430 billion), and Bid Package 1 of the Noi Bai-Nhat Tan project (VND228 billion).
Apart from factors such as capital resources, human resources, machinery and equipment, Cienco4 achieved these results also thanks to effective management of project quality. Reality showed that the asphalt surfaces of many roads which were constructed in the recent times had sunk. The Ministry of Transport, research institutes and construction units have organized many workshops and meetings to find out the reasons leading to this situation. To ensure the quality of asphalt road surfaces, Cienco4 has established a quality management department with qualified engineers responsible for controlling the quality of construction projects nationwide.
The corporation imported asphalt directly from Singapore for use in upgrading, expanding the Nam Cau Ben Thuy section of National Highway 1A, a byway of National Highway 1A in the city of Ha Tinh and other projects.
Cienco4 has cooperated with the University of Transport to establish a laboratory capable to carry out any experiments catering for project quality control.
Cienco4 has invested VND36 billion in upgrading its construction equipment with a BOMAG asphalt spreading machine and some kinds of rollers. At the same time, the corporation has provided guidance for its subsidiaries to invest VND20 billion to buy a 120 tonne-per-hour asphalt mixer, three 9cu.m water tank trailers, and two 75 tonne-per-hour stone grinding lines.
Along with implementing specific plans to ensure the quality of projects, Cienco4 is accelerating the construction of projects while at the same time ensuring safety and efficiency for projects such as Bid Packages 1 & 5 of the Noi Bai-Nhat Tan Project, Bid Package 6 of the Phu Bai Airport project, Bid Package 9 of the Long Thanh-Dau Giay Project, and the upgrade and expansion of National Highway 1A.
Cienco4 has established an overseas working group to carry out market research projects in the fields of construction and transport in foreign countries such as Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia. Through these research projects, Cienco4 can seek opportunities to participate in overseas construction and transport projects. In the short term, the corporation will take part in the construction of a road from Hua Phan Province (Laos) to Thanh Hoa Province (Vietnam). This project uses official development assistance (ODA) provided by the Bank for Development and Investment of Vietnam for Laos./.
