CIENCO 1 stands among the top 10 Vietnamese brands

(VEN) - In 2013, the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No. 1 (CIENCO 1) not only continued to reap satisfactory business results but also achieved some honorable titles. It was ranked by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association among the top 10 reputable Vietnamese brands and among the top 10 businesses in the field of science and technology application. It ranked 142nd among the top 500 Vietnamese businesses (VNR500) selected by Vietnamnet and the Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company.

CIENCO 1 is a professional contractor specializing in constructing transport infrastructure projects. In 2012, with the value of projects carried out by the corporation totaling VND6.9 trillion and its revenue reaching VND6.3 trillion, CIENCO 1 took the lead among construction units of the transport sector. In 2013, in the context of limited state budget for investment in transport infrastructure, the value of projects carried out by the corporation totaled VND7.8 trillion and its revenue reached VND7.2 trillion, equal to 130 percent and 114 percent of respective results of 2012.

In 2013, CIENCO 1 completed and put into use many major state-level and international projects with total value of nearly VND4.5 trillion on schedule to serve economic development and people’s welfare. These included large projects such as Bid Packages 6A, 9A of Terminal 2 (T2) of the Noi Bai International Airport, Rach Chiec Bridge, Saigon 2 Bridge (Ho Chi Minh City), Phu Dong 2 Bridge (Hanoi), Tran Thi Ly Bridge, Dragon Bridge (Da Nang), Project 2E, Project ADB 1 (Laos).

Some other projects were basically completed in 2013 to be put into use in early 2014 and ensuing years, including Vinh Thinh Bridge, Hoa Lac Intersection, Dong Tru Bridge (Hanoi), Pha Lai Railway Bridge, new National Highway 3 (Hanoi-Thai Nguyen), the upgrade of Railroads CP1A, CP1B, CP1C, Bid Package A5 (Noi Bai-Lao Cai), Nam Can Bridge (Ca Mau), Bid Package 10A, Terminal 2 of the Noi Bai International Airport.

Tran Thi Ly Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with total length of 731m, linking the two districts of Hai Chau and Son Tra in the city of Da Nang. The Dragon Bridge is a 660m long steel arch bridge with a unique architectural design. These two projects were highly appreciated by the Ministry of Transport, the local government of Da Nang and specialists in terms of construction techniques and architectural style.

CIENCO 1 General Director Can Hong Lai said that to develop in a stable and sustainable manner, the corporation has taken many measures, focusing on seeking new markets and participating in ODA, BOT, BT and PPP projects. Along with strengthening its position in the domestic market, CIENCO 1 has taken the initiative in promoting its operations in foreign markets such as Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Despite fierce competition, thanks to the flexibility and dynamism of its leadership, the corporation has been able to create enough work for its employees to do throughout 2013 and early 2014.

General Director Can Hong Lai added that the corporation’s leadership attached great importance to applying new technology in the construction of transport infrastructure projects.

In 2013, CIENCO 1 invested hundreds of billions of dong in buying new equipment and technologies for use in the construction of complicated projects. The corporation has encouraged its employees to bring into play their creativity in applying new technologies. In 2013, 40 initiatives were proposed, bringing in benefits totaling nearly VND50 billion.

Based on creativity and breakthroughs in terms of construction technology, CIENCO 1 has saved billions of dong for the state and affirmed its capability in building complicated projects with unique designs, including large projects using ODA capital of funded by the WB or the ADB.

2013 marked successes CIENCO 1 achieved thanks to ceaseless efforts made by the entire leadership and all employees of the corporation. Along with implementing its tasks for 2014, the corporation is accelerating its equitization under the guidance of the Minister of Transport, paving the way for CIENCO 1 to further develop in the years to come based on its 50-year traditions./.
