A workshop on regional linkage in building a startup ecosystem in the Red River delta was held in Hai Phong on September 9 with the aim of seeking measures to build an inter-regional startup ecosystem up to national and international standards.
The event was jointly organised by Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee and Ministry of Science and Technology.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said that an innovative startup ecosystem has recently been formed in Vietnam and is supported by the Government.
The Government has built the Project 844 on the national startup ecosystem with a vision of 2025 in a bid to build necessary policies for startups, improve the capacity of startups and promote linkage among the startup community.
Under the project, the Government will support about 2,000 startup projects and 600 startup enterprises by 2025.
Tung noted that to build a successful startup ecosystem, localities and related sectors should have sufficient knowledge and skills to create a startup ecosystem that is compatible with other countries while daring to accept failure.
Vice Chairman of Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee Le Khac Nam affirmed that Hai Phong always pays attention to building an innovative startup ecosystem and expects to provide support for 100 startup projects by 2020.
Delegates also discussed issues related to startups in the areas of agriculture, health, education, tourism, and information technology. The delegates proposed appropriate mechanisms for supporting the startup ecosystem in the Red River delta region, among others.
