The Ben Tre Industry Promotion Center has combined central, local and private investment sources to implement local industry promotion projects which are praised for resolving several key issues with local industrial and craft development.
With more than VND14 billion in industrial promotion funding, the center has organized vocational training and business management courses for rural workers and business owners, supported technical demonstration models, technology transfer and outstanding rural industrial product development, boosted industrial cluster development cooperation and assisted rural industrial facilities to participate in fairs and expos since 2010.
The majority of Ben Tre’s industry promotion projects have been successfully implemented, contributing to boosting provincial industrial development, especially coconut-based products, processing machinery, computerized embroidery and industrial sewing.
Several provincial key products including dried coconut meat, coconut candies, coconut fiber, coconut jelly, coconut shell-made handicraft products, feeds and fish powder and fat have gradually secured a firm foothold in the market. Many local rural industrial facilities have promoted cleaner production technologies to improve production capacity, product quality and competitiveness.
To improve industry promotion efficiency, the center will in the coming time focus on several key solutions and measures including enhancing state management of industry promotion projects, improving industry promotion staff capacity, prioritizing key industry promotion projects, using local advantages in terms of raw materials, and developing food and foodstuff processing, consumer and export-oriented goods production and fisheries.
In addition, it will support local craft villages to restore production or develop new crafts, with a view to achieving more than VND43 trillion in industrial and craft production value by 2020. With a total industry promotion funding of VND151 billion, the center has scheduled to train 500 rural workers, support 100 technical demonstration models and technology transfer projects, assist 100 rural industrial facilities to participate in fairs and expos, organize 25 business management training courses, and help with moving 15 industrial facilities blamed for environmental pollution into industrial parks and clusters.
Ben Tre has agreed to spend VND931 million on 17 industry promotion projects this year to develop production of coconut candies, crackers, rice flour, crude coconut oil, dried fish, dried squids, ship-building equipment and organic fertilizers.
