(VEN) - Ba Vi District, Hanoi, held the opening ceremony for a new tourist season this year at the Ao Vua resort, themed “Friendliness and Development.”

Ba Vi has been well known for tourism potential, including ecotourism and cultural, historical and spiritual tourism (associated with the Son Tinh-Thuy Tinh legend). It is home to three ethnic groups: Kinh, Muong, and Dao, and therefore, characterized with unique cultural activities. There are more than 500 heritage sites in Ba Vi, including 79 ranked sites such as Tay Dang, Thuy Phieu and Thanh Lung communal houses. In particular, the Thuy Phieu communal house is rated as one of the oldest in Vietnam dating back from 1531 (the Mac Dynasty).
Ba Vi is also blessed with pristine beauty of rivers, streams, mountains, waterfalls, and forests with perse ecosystems. Some such famous resorts and parks in Ba Vi are Ao Vua, Thien Son-Suoi Nga, Tan Da, Dam Long, Ba Vi National Park, and Lake Tien Sa.
“In recent years, Ba Vi’s People’s Committee has always focused on developing tourism and improving the public awareness about environmental protection and people’s living standards, contributing to local economic development,” said chairman of Ba Vi’s People’s Committee Le Van Minh.
According to statistics, Ba Vi welcomed nearly 2.1 million visitors and registered 140 billion in tourist revenue in 2011 and 2.3 million visitors and VND210 billion last year. Some of local resorts and parks have become attractive tourist destinations.
This year, Ba Vi strives to attract VND2.4 million visitors and to reach VND220 billion in tourist revenue. It is expected that the district will welcome 2.6 million visitors and create stable jobs in local tourism sector for 1,500 local workers.
Ba Vi is busy completing a development tourism master plan, a detailed plan for a tourist resort on the western side of the Ba Vi mountain, the Tan Vien Son-Suoi Hai Lake international tourist resort project, and hot spring resorts in Thuan My and Lake Cam Quy.
Ba Vi is calling for investors in these projects and plans with a view to developing tourism towards environmentally friendly and sustainable development./.
