Field trip to Phu My I factory in Ba Ria - Vung Tau to learn from NS BlueScope Vietnam’s safety management model. Contractor management. Energy Isolation. Fall prevention

Mr. Vo Minh Nhut, Country President of NS BlueScope Vietnam, said: “In pursuit of our long-term sustainable development, we put labour safety on top of our priority list ever since our first days in Vietnam. Therefore, we have been continuously investing human and capital resources to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment pursuant to global standards for our employees. As a pioneer in the steel industry, we look forward to sharing our experiences along with our journey of building safety culture for industry enterprises to jointly proceed to non-occupational-incident workplace. After one year of implementation, we are delighted with program achievements. These deliverables serve as a foundation for us to evaluate and expand the Program in the upcoming time.”

As a key player in the market with the productivity of hundreds of thousands tons of steel per year, NS BlueScope Vietnam has reported no serious labour incidents during the past decades, which greatly contributes to creating a safe working environment for its 400 employees, improving its productivity and business performance.

The program did organize a field trip for enterprises to access Australian-standard labor safety model applied at NS BlueScope Vietnam

“Ba Ria - Vung Tau is a province packed with industrial parks and enterprises operating in relatively dangerous industries such as smokestack industry, mechanics and construction industry. Therefore, labor safety should be focused to ensure safety for not only businesses but also surrounding communities. We highly appreciate the practicality of the program that NS BlueScope Vietnam has initiated. I hope that enterprises in the area will utilize what has been shared by NS BlueScope Vietnam to build a safer corporate culture that makes employees secured at workplace.” highlighted Mr. Tran Huu Thong, Deputy Head, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Industrial Zone Authority.

The success of the Program marked the second consecutive year that NS BlueScope Vietnam has implemented labor safety awareness initiatives for enterprises, aimed at promoting the sustainable development of businesses in localities where NS BlueScope Vietnam operates manufacturing plants. The previous program in Dong Nai in early 2017 received positive feedbacks from local enterprises in Dong Nai Industrial Zones.

Following the success of the program, NS BlueScope Vietnam proudly hosts the seminar " Increasing Competitiveness through Safety Culture” in Hanoi on 29 November 2019. The content of the seminar includes practical experience sharing, introduction of safety applications in construction and panel discussion on safety culture. It is expected to be a forum for enterprises to share useful experiences and jointly enhance awareness and practices of occupational safety.
