(VEN) - The Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City organized a National Day celebration that brought together the Australian diaspora, alumni of Australian institutions, Vietnamese friends and the broader community.
The event was held noon to 5.00pm on January 11, at the RMIT Saigon South Campus in District 7.
It featured classic Aussie dishes prepared by local hotels, restaurants and Australian chefs. Food and beverage partners included the Al Fresco’s Group, Caravelle Saigon, Heart of Darkness, Le Meridien Saigon, Meatworks, Mekong Merchant, Park Hyatt Saigon, Perfetto Coffee, Platinum Beer, RADA Vietnam, Sofitel Saigon Plaza, and Tribe Hospitality Group.
Several games entertained the guests including tug of war, sack races, cricket, Australian Rules Football and a slip & slide. They also had fun with a bouncy castle, face-painting, a kids’ play area and much more.
Julianne Cowley, Australian Consul-General, said: “We are proud to host this 4th annual community event to share Australian cuisine, sports and culture with families and friends in Ho Chi Minh City. We look forward to a great time celebrating Australia Day (January 26) with the community here.”
Guests also had a chance to win fabulous prizes through best dressed competitions including wearing their best Aussie outfits such as thongs, boardies, singlets & stubbies or “something green and gold.”
