An arts program was held at the Vietnam-Laos International Fallen Soldier Cemetery in Anh Son district, the central province of Nghe An on July 15.
The event was held jointly by the Nghe An provincial Party Committee, Nhan Dan (The People’s) Newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, and the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association to mark the 70thanniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day (July 27), the 55th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties and the 40-year signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the Nghe An provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh said the programme aimed to commemorate and show gratitude to generations of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the independence,freedom and revolutionary cause of the two countries.
Underlining the significance of the event, Secretary Vinhsaid that it reflects the national philosophy: “When drinking water, remember its source” as well as conveys a message to the younger generations about the responsibility to live, study, work and dedicate their efforts to the Fatherland; and to preserve and nurture the friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
In his speech, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his deep respect for the great sacrifice of millions of heroes, fallen and wounded soldiers who fought for national independence and for the great international cause.
At the program, the organisers presented gifts to families of fallen and wounded soldiers and policy beneficiaries in the province.
