Pakistan Interntional Textile Exhibition- PAKISTAN TEXPO 2016 held at the Karachi Expo Centre from 7- 10 April 2016 was a success.

Vietnam delegation meeting with Mr. S.M Muneer, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP)

The trade fair was exhibited by 320 booths from 230 companies, leading textile brands of Pakistan such as Gul Ahmed, ChenOne, Afroze Textile, Sapphire textile, textile Shabbir, international Soorty, Sitara Chemicals, Amir Adnan, FNKASIA, Zainab Chottani, Sanam Choudhry, Deepak Perwani, Nomi Ansari, Gulabo, Shahla Chatoor, Zaheer Abbas. The fair also attracted over 20,000 visitors and hundreds of business delegations from 60 countries and regions such as Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, UK , USA etc.

A big trade delegation from Vietnam included 24 enterprises of reputed textile companies such as Garment 10 Corporation, Nha Be Garment Corporation, 10/10 Textile JSC, Minh Khai Textile JSC, Hanvico, Phong Phu JSC, attended. During four days at the expo, the delegation studied the market, found out potential and strengths of Pakistan textile industry as well as held meetings with Pakistani big suppliers to work out cooperation prospects for both sides.

A wide range of commodities at Texpo Pakistan 2016

During the visit, with the coordination of Pakistan Ambassador to Vietnam H.E Mr. Zaigham Uddin Azam and Head of Vietnam Trade Mission under the Vietnam Embassy in Pakistan, Mr. Vu Viet Dung, the Vietnamese delegation had a meeting with Mr. S.M Muneer, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the organizers of the Texpo. During the meeting, Mr. S.M Muneer said that “Textiles, is the vital manufacturing sector of Pakistan contributing nearly one-fourth of industrial value added goods and employing almost 40% of the industrial labour force.

Pakistan is the world’s 4th largest producer of cotton and the 3rd largest consumer of cotton. Also, Pakistan is the world’s 2nd largest cotton yarn exporter and the 3rd largest cotton cloth manufacturer. Pakistan has a complete textiles and clothing value chain. Unlike some other textiles and clothing producing countries, Pakistan is unique in the sense that textile sector has a self-reliant production chain from Cotton to Ginning,

Manmade Fibre, Knitting, Weaving, Processing, Finishing, and fabrics to home textiles and apparel, in short “Farm to Fashion”.

In the framework of the fair, the Vietnamese business delegation had a working visit with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Federation Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to exchange measures to promote bilateral economic and commercial ties to a new level. Especially, the delegation had extensive B2B meetings with their counterparts in Karachi. As a result of these meetings, companies signed contracts with their suppliers in Karachi. In the future, there will be more contracts signed between the two sides.
