Viet Nam’s aquatic export turnover in the first quarter of 2015 attained US$1.27 billion, down 23% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Viet Nam Customs, as of March 15, Viet Nam earned US$1.061 billion from exporting aquatic products, down 22%.
A decrease in export turnover was due to a reduction in shrimps and Tra fish exports.
The Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers revealed that in the first two months of 2015, more than US$40 million were earned from exporting fried fish and surimi, up 14.1%.
The Republic of Korea, ASEAN and Japan are three largest fried fish and surimi importers of Viet Nam.
The shipments of the products to Russia and the US soared by 68.2% and 31.2%, reaching US$2.3 million and US$259,000, respectively.
