(VEN) - Based on the votes of more than 16,000 consumers in 12 provinces and cities across the country, this year’s Vietnamese High-Quality Goods awards were granted to 592 businesses, providing advertising opportunities for Vietnamese brands.
The Ton Dong A Corporation received the Vietnamese High-Quality Goods award for the seventh year. The steel product maker is one of the most famous brands in Vietnam and is well-known to domestic and foreign consumers. With two galvalume lines, three color coating lines, one pickling line and one cold rolling line, the company’s current capacity is 350,000 tonnes a year. In addition to the domestic market, the company’s products are present at Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, African countries and the Middle East. In particular, coated products are also exported to America, Australia and Japan.
The VinEco Agricultural Investment, Development and Production LLC has become a safe vegetable provider since joining the market in March 2015. Thanks to a basic investment, VinEco is capable of implementing large-scale agricultural production and applying advanced technologies from developed countries like Japan and Israel in order to optimize efficiency and ensure product quality. The company currently has three large production areas in the north, the south and Lam Dong Province, providing more than 100 kinds of fruit and vegetables for the market. Bean sprout and hydroponically grown vegetables are the two outstanding high-quality products sold in VinMart and VinMart+ supermarkets.
These are two among hundreds of companies that have received the Vietnamese High-Quality Goods award for many years. After more than 20 years of implementation, the Vietnamese High-Quality Goods award has become one of Vietnam’s prestigious trade promotion programs.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Phong, the chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said the high-quality products program has become the city and the nation’s key trade promotion program, with the high-quality Vietnamese logo recognized as a prestigious label. The award has also contributed to promoting the Buy Vietnamese Goods campaign.
Vu Kim Hanh, the chairwoman of the Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Products, said businesses must get the most consumer votes and meet quality standards as well as the comprehensive quality management system to be honored.
The number of businesses honored this year increased by nearly 20 percent compared to 2016.
Code of quality criteria
The Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City leaders also pledged to create the most favorable conditions for businesses in order to meet domestic quality criteria and achieve international standards.
Vu Kim Hanh said that to help provide businesses with more competitive advantages, the association launched a code of criteria for Vietnam high-quality goods meeting integration standards.
A code meeting integration standards aims at protecting the legitimate interests of consumers and creating a strong driving force to promote sustainable development of businesses.
A code of criteria is developed based on the following factors: The votes of consumers, the Law on Food Safety and legal documents on food safety of relevant ministries, international standards of food safety management system (the US Food and Drug Administration, the British Retail Consortium, Germany’s International Food Standard and the Food Plus Global Good Agricultural Practice), and standards in terms of corporate social responsibility.
The development of a code of criteria will begin with the food industry and attach importance to marketing and communication activities. The implementation of its code of criteria will last until 2018.
