(VEN) - A family festival held at the Deutsches Haus in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday (November 28) highlighted different facets of German life.
“A Piece of Germany” was organized by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in cooperation with the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK), the German Business Association (GBA) and Deutsches Haus.
The event was part of celebrations marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.
Everyone who attended the festival was able to delve into older and younger German industrial history through various iconic products exhibited by different companies including Mercedes Benz, Siemens, Otto Bock and Beiersdorf.
They could also discover different facets of German culture through language and singing lessons, book readings, scientific displays, and virtual tours. Children had opportunities to be sporty, creative, satisfy their curiosity and taste German Christmas cookies that they decorated on their own.
Visitors thoroughly enjoyed Vietnamese and German food and beverages, particularly cold German beer and wine in the beer garden, dances, and live performances by famous German-Vietnamese singers and idols Ho Trung Dung and Trong Hieu.
A wildly popular event of the festival was the “Bundesliga Penalty Shoot-out” and "Bundesliga Watch party" organized by Next Media and AHK Vietnam, thrilling many fans of German football.
The “Bundesliga Penalty Shoot-out” started at 9:00 and lasted until 18:00. All participating teams received official jerseys of the 18 Bundesliga football teams. The team that won the final got the "Bundesliga Silver Disc - Meisterschale" - the highest award for the champions of the tournament and valuable prizes from the Bundesliga.
The "Bundesliga Watch Party" took place from 19:00-23:30 the same day, peaking with watching live a match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Köln (starting at 21:30).
Dr. Josefine Wallat, German Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City said it was her “great desire to bring to everyone the image of Germany in a variety of ways.
“In order to show that all German agencies, organizations, and businesses present today place emphasis on German quality, we designed a common Logo, “A piece of Germany”, which symbolizes the image of Germany in Vietnam.
“We created this special logo on the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and I hope that from today on you will see this logo more and more often”, she said.
