The 13th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee has decided to convene the first session of the 14th NA on July 20th, and to conclude it on July 29th.

According to invitations for attendance sent to NA deputies, the session will hear a speech by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, before the National Election Council delivers a report about the election of deputies to the 14th NA and People's Council at all levels term 2016-2021, as well as the confirmation of elected NA deputies' status.
The 14th NA first session will spend a majority of its time discussing high-ranking personnel work. Accordingly, the NA will elect the NA Chairperson, NA Vice Chairpersons, members of the NA Standing Committee, Head of the NA Council on Ethnic Minorities, and Heads of the NA Committees and NA Secretary-General.
The State President, Vice State President, Prime Minister, President of the People's Supreme Court and President of the People's Supreme Procuracy, and State Auditor General will also be elected during this session.
After deciding the structure and number of the Government's members, the NA will also adopt the election of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and other Cabinet members. In addition, members of the National Defence and Security Council will also be adopted by the first session of the 14th NA./.
